June 22: Celebration of Writing and Open Mic at Goodman South Madison Library

If you’re in Madison, consider joining us in South Madison for the 10th Annual Celebration of Writing and Open Mic at Goodman South Madison Library next Saturday, June 22.

Begin with workshops at 1pm; stay for Open Mic from 2:00-3:30.

Digging Deep to Write Your Best Poetry: A Workshop with Fabu

Madison’s third Poet Laureate, Fabu, will help you dig deep inside yourself to find the poem within. Fabu has published three books of poetry, “Journey to Wisconsin: African American Life in Haiku,” “Poems, Dreams and Roses: Poems for Children and Youth,” and “In Our Own Tongues.”

Una imagen más profunda/The Deeper Image: A Poetry Writing Workshop in Spanish with Nydia Rojas

Digging for Treasure: A Writing Workshop with Janet Jones for Youth in grades 4th – 8th

We’ll be digging for that buried treasure in the form of a tale you’ve always wanted to tell. After a brief, guided tour through our imaginations, we will begin by telling our stories to a friend or another class member. Then we will write down what we have said and, those who would like to, will prepare to share at the open mic.

Registration is required for these three workshops.
