“Raising the Stakes” with Pat McNees

More “live from Las Vegas” and the APH Conference:

Spent yesterday in a small-group intensive workshop with Pat McNees on doing bigger/bigger budget projects. Got to know ten of our members much better, reaffirming what I’ve learned from my personal history work–there’s a surprise inside every one of us: some life experience, value, or aspiration you never would’ve suspected. (Pet a tiger, anyone?)

I learned about different individuals’ specialties and past professional experience, giving me a much better sense of to whom I could refer work or subcontract tasks of my own. And I think I was converted to a “medical geek” by Pat’s fascinating tales of her work writing histories for the National Institutes of Health and University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Thanks, Pat, for bringing us together!

About first person productions

My blog "True Stories Well Told" is a place for people who read and write about real life. I’ve been leading life writing groups since 2004. I teach, coach memoir writers 1:1, and help people publish and share their life stories.

Thanks, Sarah. Note spelling: McNees, not Mac!
