Writing Short

The shortest story ever written is credited to Ernest Hemingway and goes, “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”

I found the “True Stories Well Told” equivalent in the classified section of the Ironwood Daily Globe on March 3rd. Ironwood is located a few miles south of the Lake Superior shore on the Michigan-Wisconsin state line. Situated as it is just above the 45th parallel, winters can be cold, dark and long. Hence the inspiration, I think, for the following prose:

TRANSPORTATION WANTED: Las Vegas, Share a ride & gas, one way. Early April. Jim...

I hope Jim finds his ride. Me, I’m happy to occasionally get away to the region he hopes to get away from.

Hiking the Lake Superior shore, Black River Harbor, Michigan.

About first person productions

My blog "True Stories Well Told" is a place for people who read and write about real life. I’ve been leading life writing groups since 2004. I teach, coach memoir writers 1:1, and help people publish and share their life stories.
