Contest theme “Family”–entries due June 30

“‘Family’…the we of me.”
—Carson McCullers

If you’re a “woman with stories to tell,” your essay on “family” might be the winner of the Susan Wittig Albert LifeWriting Competition offered by Story Circle Network. (I am a member and occasional teacher for this Texas-based writers’ group founded by Albert.)

You must be a dues-paying member to enter, but hey, dues are only $55 and bring discounts on their excellent online courses. Entries must be under 1200 words. “The judges look for entries that are fresh and original, tell a compelling story in a clear and authentic voice, are responsive to the topic, and have been polished and proofread for presentation in the competition. The most successful submissions are rich in evocative detail and avoid generalizations and abstractions.” More info here.

About first person productions

My blog "True Stories Well Told" is a place for people who read and write about real life. I’ve been leading life writing groups since 2004. I teach, coach memoir writers 1:1, and help people publish and share their life stories.
